My Homelab

My love for enterprise gear is more than just a hobby; it's a fascination, Whether it's networking equipment, servers, or software solutions. I'm fascinated by the infrastructure that keeps large-scale operations running smoothly.

Building my home lab with servers and firewalls has been an exciting and educational journey, allowing me to delve into the intricate workings of networking, system administration, and cybersecurity. Here's a glimpse into my personal homelabbing experience top-to-bottom:

  • Ubquiti UDM-Pro. Routing, firewall switching all in one. Might soon be replaced by an OPNsense box.
  • 1U Brush Panel. Absolutely love these. Neat and tidy 😇
  • Cisco Catalyst 3750. Used to learn Cisco CLI and because the UDM-Pro doesn't have enough ethernet ports.
  • Dell R710 LFF. My very first enterprise server, originally running Freenas. This power hungry beast will always have a special place in my heart. - now decommissioned
  • Dell R730 LFF. To replace my Dell R710, 128GB DDR4 compared to the 96GB DDR3. Now runs VMware ESXI with Truenas Scale and a few various vm's.

Future Plans

I believe there is a lot of potential in me and my environment. These are some future projects I'm exited for:

  • 10Gbe
  • Active Directory
  • Remote Gaming
  • Personal Cloud Syncing

Seems like I have a lot of learning ahead of me!
